My brow furrows as a 3-D image of my prototype slowly spins on my screen, and I groan.

I’ve spent the morning going over every little fucking detail on the prototype and why it could have possibly exploded, but I can’t seem to figure it out.

I’m growing increasingly frustrated with every passing moment, and it’s beginning to make me livid at myself. Why can’t I figure this shit out?

I’ll tell you why.

Because I still have the images of Tessa wearing the lingerie I had sent her and fucking her while she was handcuffed on my bar.

The corners of my mouth curl upward as I recall all the events of last night, and I can’t help but feel accomplished. She agreed to my proposal, even if she didn’t say it verbally. She didn’t need to. Her just showing up last night unexpectedly informed me of her decision.

I can’t deny my attraction toward her, nor can she toward me, which was why she probably came to my penthouse wearing that delicious lace underwear I bought her. Plus, that cute little ribbon that held her dress closed was a nice touch. She looked fantastic, and she tasted and felt even better.

My jaw clenches as I realize I’m getting myself all worked up, and my erection is already announcing to me that it’s ready for action. And how can it not be when I’m thinking about Tessa?

Fuck, that woman has me thinking about her even when I’m not supposed to, and that’s out of my comfort zone. I’m never the one who’s hung up on anyone. But there’s just something about Tessa that makes me feel all the things I shouldn’t.

I’m not looking to start a relationship. The mere thought of it makes me shudder. However, I’ll undoubtedly take a sexual, no-strings, no-commitment relationship with Tessa.

No feelings, just sex. Just how I like it.

A knock on my office door pulls me out of my thoughts, and as I open my mouth to answer, the door opens.

“I don’t recall giving you permission to enter,” I mutter.

“Luckily, you’re not my boss.”

I see Mona standing in the doorway, holding two coffees.

“I wasn’t expecting you so soon,” I say.

“I thought we could get a head start,” she says, “and I got you your favorite. Tall and black.”

Hearing those words puts a slight grin on my lips. Mona has no idea what those words mean to me.

I nod, “Yes, thank you. I definitely need it after the day I’ve had so far.”

“I’m glad you’re not moping around feeling sorry for yourself anymore,” she points out.

“I’m sorry you had to see that.”

“Yeah,” she cringes, “me too. It’s not a pretty sight, to be honest.”

“Okay. You’ve made your point. Can we get back to the problem at hand?”

“Right, your exploding prototype.”

I purse my lips wryly and lean back in my chair. “Can I ask you something?”

“Of course,” she says. “That’s why I’m here, after all.”

“When you were developing that chip for the bank, why did it explode?” I ask.

“Well, it was the silliest thing.
