Uncertainty
If you are a person who worries a lot, you probably hate uncertainty. The idea of not knowing the outcome of something might freak you out to the point where you believe if you do not worry about it, it wonât be resolved. It is possible that the only time you may find yourself not worrying about a situation is when you are worrying about something else instead. When you are anxious, you exaggerate the possibility of negative outcomes and the uncertainty about the situation makes you even more uncomfortable. For example, if your heart is beating rapidly, you might think that you are having a heart attack, which will lead you to worry about it more and cause your heart to beat even more rapidly. The "what if" question in your head always seems to be negative when you have anxiety and even if it is positive for a minute, you might convince yourself to not fall for the "false" possibility of a positive outcome.
You must catch yourself during these "what if" moments and realize that your negative thinking is causing you nothing but stress. You cannot know the future and you must always hope for the positive. If you are prepared for the worst-case scenario, there is nothing else you can do. You must not suffer from misfortunes you have not experienced yet.
