Anything?
She smells like the rain outside the mansion and I stop myself before I can wonder what she tastes like. Iâll know soon enough.
Violins and piano accompany the movements of the dancers outside the alcove, but the noise of polite conversation has also risen around it. None of the people in that room care about the performance. They only care that their photo is taken in front of the Corsica Balletâs logos and perhaps in front of the intricate ice sculptures that have been strategically placed around the room.
I didnât care about any of that. There was only one reason for me to be here, and now that Iâd been seen and acknowledged, I could leave. But there was something else that had presented itselfâan opportunity to shake things up a little. If I was going to be a director, I wanted to be able to manipulate that power.
And Lily had unknowingly presented me with the perfect opportunity to do so.
Iâm sure this wasnât what my father had meant when heâd told me to get some culture⦠but Iâd be damned if I wasnât going to take advantage of it.
Her skin is warm under my fingers, and a trail of goosebumps rises as I brush my hand lightly over the swell of her breast. The dress is low cut, just the way I like it, and the slit up one thigh invites exploration.
Her pulse pounds at her throat, and her eyes are shut tight. I canât tell if sheâs scared or aroused, but it doesnât matter. Her cheeks are flushed and I grip her chin tightly.
âOpen your eyes.â
She obeys in an instant.
Good girl.
The fingers of my other hand pause at the bottom of the deep V neckline and I have to resist the temptation to rip the dress open.
âWhat is Giselle?â
âA ballet,â she whispers.
âWhat is it to you,â I growl as my hand drops to her waist, heavy on her hip.
She swallows, and I can feel her tense as though sheâs about to try and pull away, but sheâs not going anywhere.
âFreedom.â The word is bold on her lips, and her dark eyes meet mine as though sheâs afraid of what sheâs said. âIf I can dance as Giselle, I can prove that Iâm good enoughâ¦â
My hand slips from her hip and teases against the hem of her skirt before I push it up to her hips. She shivers, then stiffens, and takes a sharp breath as I stroke against the lace of her panties.
âHas the lead been chosen yet?â
She tries to shake her head, but my hand on her chin holds her firm.
âSay it aloud.â
âNo,â she replies dutifully. âMadame deLane is taking her time to evaluate each of the dancers. Iâm not the only new face in townâ¦â
Her words fade as I press closer and slide a finger under the edge of the lace to brush against the heat between her legs. Legs that will be shaking in a minuteâ¦
âWhat would you do to be Giselle?â I ask, lips close to her ear.
