“I’m not getting any younger, Jim. Willow loves me. Delia doesn’t. There’s no sense in postponing the inevitable. Marrying Willow makes sense. Her father still wants to join our ranches. I can build a house for my aunt, or give her the one I live in now. And I want to have children. I want someone I can leave my ranch to when I’m gone.”

“Where will you and Willow live?”

“We’ll take the original homestead on the Freeman ranch for a while. It really doesn’t matter to me. Willow will want a mansion like the one she grew up in, the one her parents live in, soon enough. Building a new home is the next order of business.” He raised his hand to his forehead and rubbed his brow. He’d exhausted himself with thinking about it.
