“He’s mine…” Jamison frowned. “What the fuck is she talking about. He’s mine.” Jamison ran behind his mother. “What are you talking about?”

“That was a coward move, Jamison. You were scared to read the results yourself, so you had me to do it. What is it, Jay? Where you scared to break that beautiful young lady’s heart again.” Jamee asked, staring at Kara from a distance as she stood in the foyer, cradling Jacob.

She was stuck in place. Jamee could see the hurt in her eyes. Kara wasn’t fooling her. She was a woman, too, and knew exactly how the shit went. It was understandable that she was hurting, but she needed to be more upfront about her feelings. Jamee thought that Jamison needed to suffer, and she wished like hell that Kara would make him. Time and time again, Jamee had went to bat for her son. This time, she was totally against everything that he stood for. She only saw a pathetic excuse for a partner.

“She married me, Ma. We’re good.”

“She married you?” Jamee shrieked in displeasure. “How dare you? How dare you rip that girl’s heart out of her chest and think that a funky ass “I DO” will suffice for the heartbreak that you have caused. She deserves better than that. Didn’t I teach you better than that, son?” Jamee had began hitting Jamison upside his head. He raised his arms to block the blows.

“I was proposing before we even found out about Jacob. I know she deserves better and I’m going to give her that.” Jamison admitted. “I know this already.”

“Give me my grandson,” Jamee went over to Kara and grabbed Jacob from her arms. “You should’ve made his ass suffer for real this time.” she said before walking away and heading towards the door. “I can’t believe you.” She narrowed her eyes as she looked at Jamison before walking out with the girls on her trail.

After closing the door, Jamison looked at Kara. She was still in the same place as she was when the results were read. He knew that he had hurt her, but he couldn’t help but remember that she told him that she’d stick it out with him. It was pretty obvious that she was having second thoughts, now.

“Baby…” he started, but was cut off.

“It’s fine.” Kara waved her hand in the air. “You go ahead and go to the hospital. I’m going to stay here.”

“You said that you wanted to come with me.”

“I did. Right now, I just want to be alone.”

“Don’t do this, Kara. Don’t do this. Do not shut me out. You told me that you were going to ride this out with me.” he reminded her.

“I’m still here, Jay.”

“But, Kara… You’re about to shut down on a nigga and I know it.”

“I can’t help it.” Kara finally submitted to the tears.

“Shh… Kara. Don’t cry. Please. Don’t.” Jamison pulled his wife into his chest as he rubbed her back.

“It hurts.” She mumbled. “It really hurts.”

“I know. I know.
