The Angel of Metal is a highway robber, and he owes his reputation to the fact that he never misses a target, never wastes a single cartridge, thus honoring his name to perfection. He’s not the type of guy who backs down from any act, no matter the degree of madness and cruelty it might require. He’s always ready to do anything to prove, if only to himself, that he doesn’t belong in the common field of mortals. Where there’s a lack of power, one doesn’t hesitate to give him some. And that can sometimes go beyond the level of the trigger and take on the metaphysical. For example, ever since he arrived in City of God, people haven’t stopped comparing him to the former head of the district, because the latter had been just as powerful; the legend of the mouth that gives and the ear that receives goes so far as to say that he’s his reincarnation. The absents, they say, are always wrong; this guy shouldn’t have left, so that today we could really measure his strength against that of the current leader. The predecessor of the Angel of Metal, to escape a child he didn’t want—without really knowing why exactly—offered his head to a Beretta in the public square on the day of the birth, and an hour later we saw his presumed corpse leave, smoked, lost to the horizon. Like everyone else, the mother has undoubtedly heard the story, but no need to count on her for any investigation, because she doesn’t wish, has never wished, to get involved in the affairs of the dead. If your father were here… that’s all she can whip out when she talks to her child, despite the rumors in the crowd. Everything is as true as it’s false in this country, it depends on the mouth that gives, it depends on the ear that receives. This man, did he really exist, did he really commit suicide, did he really come back to live in the body of the Angel of Metal? The legend mutates over the days but no one knows how to establish a link with any truth.

The Angel of Metal doesn’t care about this strange story featuring him, he has nothing to lose. On the contrary, this kind of thing gives him an even more fearsome image in the neighborhood. When he hears that he’s the reincarnation of someone else, he mockingly asks what human could storm his body without him killing it…

Whatever. His world is about dropping bodies from the tree of breath. Capable of anything, so no need to say how often the Angel of Metal is called on to finish dirty jobs.

A certain young bourgeois is arrested by the police because he smokes marijuana in his car while belting out David Guetta tunes to show the girls accompanying him that he’s cool. It costs him two days in police custody; after his release, his father comes to ask that the cop be taught a fatal lesson.
