Chapter Forty-Two

The area was silent with only the sound of crickets and flies buzzing as the street lights turned on. Bri$$ found himself hesitant about walking up to the door of her home. There had never been a time where he walked into her place and she wasn't there. It didn't feel right to him. Part of him just wanted to be in her world, smelling her and imagining she was not being held captive. Missing her had made his anger for her subside, to a degree. Part of him wanted nothing to do with her. The other part wanted to ignore any and every naysayer.

Using the key she kept at the top of the door frame, he walked in. Before he could step foot into the front door he was met with a swift and hard punch to the jaw. Surprised by the blow, he stumbled back.

Bri$$’s aggressor stood back and pulled out a gun. Sweat dripped from both of their foreheads. They were both alarmed by the encounter, and were in defense mode as they waited for the other to make another move. Bri$$’s adversary pointed the gun directly at Bri$$’s chest. Still winded by the surprise, Bri$$ thought to grab his own gun, but noticed the man’s grip tightening around the trigger of the gun. He knew that his life was in jeopardy. He knew with any false movement, his life could be blown away.

“What the fuck you doing at my sister’s crib?”

Bri$$’s eyes focused in on blue eyes that were reminiscent of Amira’s grey ones. He noticed the similarities in his features, and his mind quickly pieced together his aggressor’s identity. This was Amon, Amira’s older brother. He was the man he had met many months ago. They had only met once, and it made sense that neither had recognized the other off the bat. Pulling himself together, Bri$$ slowly stood, never taking his eyes away from Amon. Amon continued to look at Bri$$ in confusion. His identity hadn’t become clear to him yet. Bri$$ finally spoke up for himself as he put his defending hands down.

“I’m just trying to clear my mind and retrace my steps so I can figure out how the hell to find your sister.”

“Who are you to be looking for her? You better answer me in point two seconds or I’m spraying your ass with this whole clip.”

Bri$$ quickly drew his hands back up in defense as he watched the gun ominously stare at him.

“Fuck! My nigga, put the gun down. I’m Bri$$. Your sister is my girl. I’m from La Familia. ”

It was understood that Amon recognized the name because he pulled the gun down and placed it back in the waist of his pants. Taken aback by Bri$$’s forthcoming response, Amon stood back, sat down, and placed his gun on the table.

“Cuzz, who the fuck got her?” he quizzed, wondering if Bri$$ had any more information than he had himself.

“We know R.O.D. got her. Heard she’s somewhere in San Pedro, supposedly, but that’s all I know.
