CHAPTER 8
âWhat? You are not in bed?â Eve said when she entered the room and saw me in the same spot she left me.
âIs Mason still asleep?â
âYes, he is,â she said as she looked me over again. âOh my Godâ¦â
âWhat?â
âI just want you so bad,â she said stepped so close to me that our breasts were pressed against each other. âI want you in our bed.â
âBut Masonâ¦â
âHe wonât wake up. Iâll make it quick.â
âOK,â I said and reached for my top.
âOh no,â she said and took it from my hand. âI want to see you walk naked.â
âEveâ¦noâ¦please, give me my top.â
âAre you shy?â
âNoâ¦Iâm justâ¦oh God,â I chuckled and covered my face.
âI donât think you should be ashamed of your wife seeing you naked.â
âYou are my wife for a particular purpose,â I reminded her.
âSee, I never saw it that way,â she smiled and held my hand then led me to the stairs naked. âGo on up.
I looked at her and shook my head then started the embarrassing climb as Eve watched me from behind. I looked back and realized that she was behind a couple of steps and was looking at my ass as I moved. I hurried up to get it over with and was relieved and laughing when I finally made it into the bedroom.
âThat was not OK,â I said as I fell onto the bed.
âIt was way OK!â Eve said and jumped onto the bed beside me.
She took my hand and looked at my fingers then weaved hers through.
âFrom my fifty percent of your riches, I would like you to buy a ring for me to put on your fingers,â she smiled.
âWe donât need rings,â I smiled back. âRememberâ¦â
âYou married me for a different reason from the one I married you,â she said softly.
âWhy did you marry me?â
âBecause I was in love with you,â she said and the smile left my lips.
âYou are confused,â I said and brushed her hair from her face. âI rescued you and you feel gratitude. Donât mistake that for love.â
She didnât get upset or tried to defend the love she thought she felt, and she seemed so confident in her belief that my words had no effect.
âHow can I not love you? Even if you think I fell in love with you out of gratitudeâ¦does it matter?â she asked as she caressed my fingers. âTreating someone with compassion and kindnessâ¦putting their life and safety above your own has to be the foundation of loveâ¦how can it not be?â
âI guess youâre right.â
âAnd it goes both ways. How can you not love me?â she asked.
I now had the spotlight turned on my feelings and it forced me to take a moment to process them. Eve wiped my eyes, and it was then that I realized that the labeling of this intense feeling I had for her had forced the tears from my eyes. Of course, I loved her!
âItâs OK,â she whispered and took my lips in hers.
I held the back of her head and deepened our kiss because I was overcome with a rush of emotions and I just wanted all of her.
