“So you haven’t been able to have an evening alone with Oliver since your mother came into town?” Addison asked, shocked as she looked between Bridget and Nina.

Nina shook her head ruefully. “Nope. It’s just been me and Mom every evening…”

Addison blew out a breath, her eyes widening comically. “I’m sure that’s been… delightful…”

The three dissolved into laughter, Nina raising her hand to her mouth to stifle hers.

“Come on, why would you want to hang out with your boyfriend when you can play Scrabble with your mother?” Bridget teased, and the three laughed even harder.

Just then, Melissa drifted by, pausing to look at them disapprovingly. “And what is so funny?”

The three sobered instantly, although Addison had to work to keep a straight face. “Just telling jokes over here, that’s all.”

“I see.” Melissa sniffed, then continued on her way.

Addison, Nina, and Bridget looked at each other, all on the verge of laughter once more. Addison reveled in the moment, pleased to see that a friendship seemed to be forming between Bridget and Nina. Things had once been rocky there, as Nina had tried to date Timothy, who Bridget also liked, but things had finally gotten worked out and everyone was with the person they were supposed to be with. It was good to see Bridget fitting in with the group. For a long time, she had been the odd one out, only there because of Elise, but everyone was starting to warm up to her, and it made Addison happy.

The bell at the front door jingled just then and Nadia and Hector walked in. Nadia, Addison noticed, was looking resplendent in her floral printed dress and there was a smile on her face that could only be the product of spending time with Hector, something that also made Addison very happy. She excused herself from Nina and Bridget and hurried over to Nadia and Hector.

“Nadia! Hector! Glad you could make it!”

“Thanks for the invitation,” Nadia replied. “It looks absolutely beautiful in here, by the way. The bistro has been completely transformed.”

“That was the idea,” Addison said modestly. “Thank you.” She turned to Hector. “Nice to see you, as always.”

“Good to be here. Anything to spend some time with Nadia,” Hector teased lightly, and Nadia’s cheeks turned a rosy hue.

“He brought me flowers,” she blurted out, looking at Addison. “A bouquet of carnations.”

Addison looked at Hector with approval. “That’s a very classy move. Very gentlemanly. I have to give you kudos.”

“Well, Nadia deserves the best,” he said simply. He turned to Nadia. “Do you want me to get some food for us?”

“That would be great, thank you,” Nadia replied, her eyes following him as he left to procure some plates of the delicious wraps and other hors d'oeuvres.

Addison smiled at Nadia, her hazel eyes warm. “It seems like things with Hector are going well,” she commented.

Nadia’s cheeks flushed even more, but she couldn’t hide her smile. “They are,” she agreed. “I really like him.”

“What’s not to like? The two of you are a great pair.
