Jezebel

Wife of King Ahab of Israel and a worshipper of Baal (1 Kgs. 18: 19). She was a princess of Tyre and overruled Israelite law and customs in the interests of the royal estates by ruthlessly appropriating the vineyard of the obstinate Naboth (1 Kgs. 21). Elijah prophesied her downfall, which was executed when Jehu seized power (2 Kgs. 9: 30–7).
