“Aunt Lissa, look at this one,” Blythe said as Lissa walked towards her. “Smell.” She held the candle under Lissa’s nose.

“Hmm, that reminds me of your mom,” Lissa said with a smile.

“I thought so too. Should I get it for her?”

“You know how much she likes candles,” Lissa commented.

“Oh, smell this one.” Blythe once again held the candle under Lissa’s nose.

“Mmm, I like that,” Lissa said.

“It’s for Addison. See?” Blythe turned the candle so Lissa could read the scent.

Lissa laughed. “Winner Celebration! That would just add fuel to her trash talking. I’m never going to hear the end of how she beat me on Thanksgiving.”

“But it smells so good. You have to get it for her,” Blythe said, sniffing another candle. ”I like her.”

“I like her, too.” Lissa chuckled.

Blythe tilted her head and looked at her aunt. “Y’all go together.”

“What?”

“You go together. Just like me and Caris,” Blythe explained. “She’s my best friend at school. We do everything together.”

“You do? Have you talked to her since you’ve been home?” Lissa asked.

“Yeah, several times. We text all the time.”

Lissa thought about what Blythe said. She and Addison texted often. She’d actually texted with her last night and this morning. Maybe that wasn’t unusual.

“I’m glad Addison moved here,” Blythe said.

Before Lissa could comment her phone rang. “Oh, there’s Addison now. She must’ve known we were talking about her,” Lissa said in a loud whisper.

Blythe chuckled. “Yeah right, Aunt Lis.”

“Hey,” Lissa said, connecting the call.

“Hey, yourself. I wanted to tell you and Blythe not to buy everything. You have to leave a few things for me. You know how I love to shop,” Addison said cheerily.

Lissa chuckled. “Oh, there'll be plenty left for you. Aren’t you shopping with Suzanne and Rachel?”

“Yes, we’re out shopping right now, but I was thinking of you and thought I’d call. Besides, I need to check on Dart,” Addison rambled.

Lissa smiled. “Dart is fine, but he misses you.”

“How can you tell?”

“He and Callie have played a little, but he’s been lying around the house and when I let them go roaming this morning he went straight to your house.”

“Aww, that makes me happy. Maybe I am a good cat parent.”

“He’s not the only one that misses you,” Lissa said softly.

“Calista! You don’t mean it. I haven’t even been gone a day,” Addison said.

“Calista? You’re using my whole name?” Lissa chuckled.

“Yeah, I’m trying it on for size. I kind of like it.” Addison laughed.

“Okay,” Lissa said slowly, not sure what was going on.

“I’d better let you go; I don’t want you to miss any bargains. But Lis, just so you know, I miss you, too,” Addison said.

“Addison Henry, don’t say that so loud, someone will hear you,” Lissa teased.

Addison giggled and Lissa thought that was the nicest sound she’d heard in a long time.

“Bye, Lis. I’ll see you tomorrow.”

Lissa chuckled and put her phone back in her pocket.

“That’s a really nice smile on your face, Aunt Lissa,” Blythe said with a smirk.

Right now Lissa didn’t care if Blythe teased her.
