Youâre Dating An Alpha?
Ulric shouldâve known that Gageâs brother would be just as beautiful as he was.
Wilkie Frost was an omega in his early twenties, a slender young thing that Ulricâs parents wouldâve wanted him to marry in a heartbeat. That was all Ulric could think about as Gage helped Wilkie move first a mattress, then a bed frame upstairs.
When they were almost done with the moving, Gage joined Ulric in the kitchen, pulling a chair over to the island counter. âDid something happen?â Gage asked, stroking Ulricâs back. âYou look sad.â
Ulric shrugged. âSometimes I wish I was normal. Like everyone else.â
Gage huffed. âYeah, same here.â
âYou?â Ulric tried not to roll his eyes. âYouâd win like, ten beauty pageants in a row.â
Gage smiled wryly. âAnd then what?â
âAnd then youâd get everything in the world.â
âDoesnât always work that way.â
That, Ulric found hard to believe. âIt doesnât?â
Gage leaned into him, all pine and fresh sweat scent. âIâm living in your fancy house because Iâm broke, Ulric.â
There were two ways to look at that. One, Gage wouldnât be here if he wasnât broke. Two, Ulric had invited Gage to live here precisely because heâd been a sucker for Gageâs looks. He was still a sucker for Gageâs face, and now, his hands, too. Along with everything else about Gage.
Either way, both trains of thought were pretty depressing.
âI think Iâve just upset you more.â Gage winced. âWhat did I say wrong?â
âNothing.â Ulric left his seat, heading to the fridge.
âHey.â
âI told you, itâs nothing.â
âDonât lie to me, babe.â Gage caught Ulricâs arm, turning him around. And he pressed Ulric lightly against the fridge, leaning in so his lips brushed Ulricâs cheek.
Ulric stopped breathing. He still couldnât believe it, every time Gage kissed him. âIs this aââ
âNot a payment.â Gage leaned in, pressing their mouths together. Pleasure hummed through Ulricâs nerves. âMm. You always taste good.â
Ulricâs face heated up. âWeâre justâjust friends.â
âYeah.â Gage kissed him deeper, and Ulricâs knees grew weak.
Sometimes, he wondered if Gage minded his fumbling kisses. Gage kissed like a pro. But when they kissed, instead of mentioning Ulricâs lack of experience, Gage only cupped Ulricâs face and fitted their mouths more snugly together. Ulric hadnât the confidence to initiate this with him.
Gage found him hot, though. As crazy as it was, Ulric believed that now. Gage liked hugging him.
Actually, maybe Gage liked kissing him, too.
Ulric broke the kiss, his heart pattering. âWhy?â
Warmth filled Gageâs smile. âBecause. You need a reason?â
âEverything has a reason.â That was the basis in Ulricâs data analysis. Hell, it was his job to find out why the numbers worked the way they did.
Gage pressed their foreheads together, bumping into Ulricâs glasses. âDo you not want me living here because Iâm broke?â
Ulricâs thoughts tilted sideways. âHowâd you even come to that conclusion?â
âBecause you werenât happy when I said it.â
âThatâs not what I was unhappy about.â
âThen what is it?â Gage cupped his jaw, brushing his thumb across Ulricâs lower lip. Tingles raced through Ulricâs skin. âTell me, Muffin.â
Ulric sighed. âAm I really a muffin?â
Gage grinned.
