Chapter 15
Finn
âSo heâs nervous.â My chuckle was not the response he was evidently expecting. âFinn?â
âSorry, that just wasnât the way I expected the conversation to start.â Some kind of greeting and small talk should have probably come first. Especially since Holden had never called me before.
âOh, well, hello.â There was a short pause, and I pictured him shifting uncomfortably, but trying not to look like he was worried. âHeâs nervous.â
So no âHowâs your week," or âWhat have you been up to," or even âDid you remember youâre coming to dinner"; he was just jumping right in. âI expected that.â
He should have expected that too.
Holden sighed. âYes, wellâ¦â
He clearly didnât like his boy upset. âIs he too worked up about it? Should we try again later?â
He sighed again. âNo, I just wanted to make sure you understood he was nervous and probably wonât be as relaxed as he normally would when heâs little.â
I couldnât decide what Holden was worried about. Was he concerned that I thought he wasnât a good Daddy? Was he afraid that we were pushing Ryland?
âHe and I talked about it.â Heâd talked himself in and out of it multiple times but always seemed to have settled on opening up. âIf I thought it was too much, then Iâd find an excuse to put it off.â
âHeâs ready.â I could hear the unsaid words.
âBut you donât like seeing him worked up.â They were so perfect together it was cute. âI can understand that.â
âThis is a good first step for him.â Holden said it like I was supposed to understand where the conversation was going.
âProbably.â I had no idea what he meant, but I figured it wouldnât take long for him to tell me. The phone call seemed to be more about him working through his thoughts than actually talking to me.
âHe hasnât been exploring that side of himself very long, but eventually, Iâd like to find him someone to play with.â And there we went. I was starting to catch up.
âI think heâd like that once he got used to it. There are evidently other littles his age in the area, and from what Iâve heard, they even do play dates occasionally.â I knew I was more outgoing than Ryland when it came to kinks and talking about them, but I couldnât imagine him hiding away forever without finding other people who could relate to what he wanted.
âYes.â Holden knew how to play it close to the vest when it came to talking about other people in the lifestyle.
âIf heâs ready, or at least willing to try to open up to someone, Iâm the best person for him to do that with. He knows you love him and that he has his Daddy, but he needs to see that he has other people too.â Ryland wasnât alone in his role. There were countless other people who understood what he was going through.
Holden was quiet for a few moments. âYouâll be at the house later?â
âYes, Iâll leave here in about an hour.
