CHAPTER SIXTEEN
Tristan
With shaky knees, I stood in my driveway and waited as the rumble of Kurtâs car engine cut off, the heavy click of his door loud in my ears. He walked with a surety I didnât feel at all. My fingers twitched with the need to touch, to feel the heat of his skin.
Kurt stopped in front of me and gave a once-over, lips curling into a satisfied grin. I mustâve been in a stateâI hadnât bothered to fix my hair, and the scratch of his stubble was still hot on my lips. He wasnât much better with his dress shirt wrinkled from my hands, his cheeks flushed and his lips red.
God, I wanted him. I wanted to tear him apart and find the weight of his secrets. And part of me wanted to allow him to do the same to me, to let him see all the tangles Iâd been trying to unravel, how it squeezed around my battered heart.
But that was impossible. I couldnât give that to him. So Iâd give what I could.
Kurt ran a knuckle across my chest, the trail burning in his fingerâs wake, and closed the distance between us. My eyes fluttered closed, breath hitching in anticipation. I trembled at the heat of his breath on my mouth, the brush of his lips against mine teasing a small whimper out of me. âLetâs go inside.â
I hooked a hand around the back of his neck to stop him from slipping away, stealing a quick kiss to help stave off the urge to drop to my knees in the driveway, neighbors be damned.
Kurtâs touch remained constant, and his hand rested on the small of my back, fingers pressed into the tight muscle against my spine then they slipped inside my dress pants to cup my ass.
By the time we got to my front door, my hands were shaking. I fumbled with my key as I tried to get it into the lock, and I cursed under my breath. I shook my head to clear my thoughts, counting down to refocus my efforts on getting inside. Kurt chuckled and wrapped his arm around my waist, palm pressed against my stomach.
âNeed help?â Kurt asked, amusement laced in his voice.
âNo,â I said through clenched teeth. I rolled my hips slowly, grinding my ass against him, and smiled in triumph at the stutter of his breath. The key slipped inside, and I unlocked the door.
Kurt pushed us inside and slammed the door shut. I spun around and latched my mouth to his neck while I fumbled with the buttons of his shirt. Kurt twisted his hand into my hair, yanking at the roots a little, a clear test to see how Iâd react. In response, I bit the taut muscle at the bottom of his neck, reveling in the long moan that spilled out of him. I ran my tongue over the mark to soothe the sting.
The buttons were finally undone, and I yanked the fabric over his shoulders. Kurt hissed in alarm, and I jumped back, finding his face screwed up in discomfort.
