“You!” I point at the officer. “Do you have a warrant?”

He looks into the living room and walks toward me, a sausage-fingered hand on his holster. “Who are you?” he asks, raising a thick, black eyebrow.

“I am Maya Cleary’s attorney, and I asked you if you have a warrant for the search you are currently conducting.”

“She invited me in.”

“Then why is she outside? No, I think it more likely that these women used their authority as agents of Child Protective Services to bully Maya, and you seized an opportunity to follow them into the house and conduct an unauthorized search.”
