Jim is waiting for me in the front yard with his arms crossed as I pull up into the driveway this morning. As much as I hated having other men touch me after Callum did, I needed to make up for lost time. Unfortunately, a few blow jobs and a handy didn't get me where I needed to be in order to keep Jim happy. Not like it would have lasted, anyway.

Jim glowers in my direction, his eyes pinning me in place as I step out of the car. I shouldn’t have stayed out as long as I did. I took too long of a break, but being with Callum felt too good to care. I'm ready to pay the consequences, whatever they may be.

“Jim, you're home.”

“Where the hell have you been?”

I swallow hard, staring at my shifting feet. “I'm not sure what you mean.”

“I had clients searching for some company yesterday and they only wanted you, but you were nowhere to be found. You weren't even answering your phone.”

“I uh…it was dead and I was so tired I fell asleep in my car during my break. I went back to work as soon as I woke up, though, and have been working since.”

“I don't have time for your lousy excuses. Where's your earnings for the night?”

I hand him a wad of cash and he balls his fists, his jaw twitching. “What the fuck is this? The local diner makes more than this in their daily tip jar.”

“I'll make it up to you, I promise.”

“Yes, you will. Get your ass inside now. Lucky for you, Mr. Lincoln was patient and he agreed to come back this afternoon. You will be available when he does.”

“Okay, whatever you say.”

“It will be from here on out, and from now on you won't be taking off during working hours to see your little boyfriend anytime you want.”

“What boyfriend?”

His lips press into a thin line and he gives off a bored expression. “You know exactly what I'm talking about. Some of the other guys saw you with him. They also witnessed the little confrontation you had on the street not long ago. It was done right in front of a client too.”

“I—”

“Save it. Go get cleaned up, and don't disappoint me today.”

“I won't. I promise.”

He rushes past me, his shoulder bumping mine a little too hard. I wince and head inside. Jared is sitting on the couch in the living room, unable to look me in the eye.

“It was you, wasn't it?”

“I don't know what you mean.” Jared cocks his head, folding his arms.

“I think you do. If you think this will earn you points with Jim, you're wrong. You mean nothing to him. None of us do.”

He rolls his eyes and his gaze drifts to his phone. “Whatever. You're only saying that because you can't seem to stop causing problems. I don't even know why Jim continues to put up with you.”

“Because he needs the money.”

“Keep up with your bullshit and he'll replace you soon.
