CHAPTER 17
As they walked toward her apartment and continued their conversation from the bar, Erin recognized that their night together was coming to an end. That thought made her a little sad. Becca then reached for one of Erinâs hands, which she had had in her front pocket, pulled it out, and entwined their fingers.
âIs this okay?â Becca asked her.
Erin looked down at their joined hands. She had a flash of the last time sheâd walked down the street holding hands with a woman on a date. There was a moment of pain before it disappeared, and a moment of joy caused her to smile when she looked at Becca Pratt.
âYes,â she said.
âWeâre here, actually, so I guess it doesnât matter.â Becca pointed with her free hand to the building ahead, which was Erinâs apartment building.
âOh, it matters,â Erin replied. âTrust me.â
âI do,â Becca stated. âWell, this is where I leave you.â
Erin noticed that, for the first time, Becca was nervous. She tugged on the womanâs arm a bit until they were at the door of the building. They went through the front door still hand in hand. Then, she turned around to face Becca.
âI had a good time.â
âMe too,â Becca replied as she slid her thumb over Erinâs hand. âCan we do this again?â
âTomorrow?â
âA real date, Erin. Iâm asking for a real date. Tomorrow is great, but I want to be clear what Iâm asking.â
âAnd I want to be clear that I was saying I wanted to go on a real date with you tomorrow, Becca.â
âTomorrow, then. Where can I pick you up?â
âWhy canât I pick you up?â Erin tossed back as she took Beccaâs other hand in her own.
âAt my office? Thatâs romantic.â
âI meant at your place, Bex.â
âItâs too far away,â Becca said.
âI donât mind. Thereâs a train, remember? I can finish up at the café and head home to get ready. I can be at your place by seven. Would that work? Is there a good restaurant near where you live?â
âSeven is fine. Yes, there are restaurants nearby, but we could also just stay in and watch a movie. I hear you like to do that.â Becca smiled at Erin and took a step closer to her.
âI do like movies.â Erin toyed with Beccaâs fingers. âWhat would we eat?â
âYou could bring something,â she suggested. âAnd we could eat while we watch.â
âWhat would we watch?â Erin asked with a smirk she thought conveyed her intent. She hadnât done this part in so long. She took the final step in, leaving only a few inches between them. âI like old movies.â
âIâll watch anything you want if you let me kiss you right now,â Becca breathed out as her intense brown eyes bore into Erinâs.
âCasablanca?â
âOver and over if you want,â the woman replied, tilting her head just slightly.
âWhat about Breakfast at Tiffanyâs?â
âOne of my favorites,â Becca whispered as she leaned in.
âGone with the Wind?â
âIs like four hours long. Yes, letâs watch that.â Beccaâs lips were millimeters away. Erin laughed softly against them.
