âSee you pal,â Caption Jatin hoists his hand from his motorbike as he departs from one of his colleagues and takes a swift right turn towards the direction of his house. Within a minute or two his two wheeler retards and comes to a smooth, effortless stop in front of the front gate.
He gets down and removes his sunglasses. The man acquires an incredulous look as he beholds some fellows in the neighbouring house which belongs to Ma, Mrs. Kamal Sareen. Not that the people do not call upon this house, they do, but they are essentially women. Thatâs why Jatinâs sharp sight recognizes the discrepancy when it spots some males in there. Hurriedly he parks his bike inside the fence and without entering the house reaches for Ma.
While getting in through the front gate he encounters some unknown faces most of whom are males. That leaves him wondering about what must be going on inside. Well, nothing much seems to materialize actually as he watches Ma comfortably sitting on the sofa with a magazine in her hand.
âAh, there you are I was waiting for you only Jatin,â says Ma keeping aside the magazine.
âWho were those people I saw just now Ma ?â, Jatin asks as he positions himself on a divan.
âWell, rest yourself properly my boy. I âll tell you about them soon,â says Ma.
Just then, by sheer intuition, Jatin realises somebody encroaching them from inside and tilts to have a glance on it. What he sees could only be seen in dreams. And that throws him in such an astonishment that he gets confused whether it is reality or some kind of hallucination. A young girl, who does not seem to be more than 22 years, walks in gently, with her body draped in a thick Kashmiri shawl. Even then she shivers with cold as if she w a s s t a t i o n e d on the north pole. Her eyes are almost closed and her head drooped down just like a newly wedded bride melting with profound shyness. Her shoulder long, slight curly hair seem to be wet as if she was caught in a heavy t o r r e n t . Her creamy face glistens in a bath of brilliant sunbeams originating from the topmost window of the room. Amazingly thought it seems, she still shivers from head to feet and in addition her body produces intermittent convulsions. Some tiny water droplets manage to come out of her hair and rest on her forehead, brightly glittering like pearls. But their v e n t u r e to pose a happy picture of the girl doesnât seem to succeed, as the girl appears to be in a real deplorable condition.
She havers at the sight of Jatin and looses control over the shawl. Her frail hands try to recapture it but it slips down her shoulders and spreads itself on the floor. Occurrence of this incident puts the girl in further embarrassment as she shudders due to the loss of the protective shelter of the shawl.
