So then Frank asked him about the Metal Man. Up spoke the old man then like some calm and dreary prophet: he knew nothing about the image’s origins, but pointing to the pillars on the left and the pillars on the right of the tossing, moaning sea, he said,

“There’s no harbour between two and three.”
