We knew it was only a matter of time before he reared his ugly head again. When Bryony showed me the latest email, I wanted to call his bluff and tell him to shove his threats up his ass. But our loyalty won out and held us back from answering the way we wanted to. We couldn’t even bring ourselves to open the attachments. Some things don’t need to be seen, and that was one of them.

So, we did what we’d set out to do when the soldiers offered their help. We took it. Which in itself was a big thing for us because we didn’t like being reliant on anyone. After a few exchanged emails, we decided to hang fire on replying to Byers. The Soldiers told us they had a lead on a place he’d been spotted recently, and the thought of confronting him there was far more appealing than sending a pointless email. Reluctantly, they gave us the address and we agreed, with their assistance, to check it out. Apparently, staking it out on our own wasn’t an option, but we weren’t stupid. Eight bodies, eight pairs of eyes, and two kickass groups of maniacs were better than one. Who’d have thought the Soldiers and Masters would ever be working side-by-side. Byers wasn’t going to know what’d hit him.
