Dear Father,

I hope this letter finds you in good health. It is with a heavy heart that I must inform you that Alfie Nooks, the man I stabbed, has died of his injuries last week. He hung on for so long, that I hoped against hope that he would survive, but it seems that my knife pierced his gut, causing him a slow and painful death, for which I am truly sorry. I was tried and sentenced yesterday to death by hanging. The sentence is to be carried out on October 3, 1815 at dawn.

Father, please forgive me for the hurt I have caused you and pray for me. May God have mercy on my soul.
