I put my phone in my pocket, standing as Matt approaches. “Are you guys ready?” he asks, rubbing his hand together? “I’m starving, so let’s get this tour over so we can have some lunch.”

“Sounds good.”

“Come this way,” Matt instructs, pointing down a little ways to another opening that allows field access.

Once we’re all down on the field, he points out little things that the average person might not know. We head inside, and he shows us all over the clubhouse, the final stop being the locker room. Most of the guys have left, only a few still mill around. We walk over to the cubby marked with Matt O’Riley and he picks up a jersey laying across the bench. I realize right away that it’s a kid’s size, not adult. Once again, I feel tears prick the back of my eyes, these damn pregnancy hormones making me cry at the drop of a hat.
