The next day I thought the whole thing was a dream, until I looked at my computer. I plugged my laptop in, turned it on, shook my head at how crazy I’d become, then stuck a DVD in the slot to make a copy of my video. When it was done I pulled it out and wrote ‘For Ivan from his Julie’ on the cover. Ivan was already downstairs, eating breakfast. I went to his room, threw away the porn and put my movie in his DVD player. I felt a little guilty about throwing it away, but the time had come for desperate measures. I dressed for class in seconds and then walking nonchalantly down the stairs.

The thought of Ivan stroking his enormous cock to my orgasm made me shudder with pleasure, but my glee was tempered by thoughts of my wedding. The day was getting closer, and honestly, if anything was ever going to happen between us, last night was probably my best bet. I had to hope for more; the alternative was too much to bear. “Hi Ivan,” I called as I walked into the kitchen.

“Hello, Julie,” he said. I headed over to the coffee pot before moving towards the fridge to start cooking, and glanced over at him. To my surprise, Ivan was fully dressed in his suit. He looked stressed, dark circles on his perfect skin beneath those beautiful eyes. “We must talk about what happen last night.” He was leaning against the counter, instead of sitting at the table.

“No, I don’t think so,” I said, and turned towards the stove, bacon in hand. “I don’t want to talk about it. Unless you’ve changed your mind.” I raised my eyebrows and turned towards him, but he just looked down at his hands. “Okay then.”

“Pozhaluista--please, Julie,” Ivan said; I could hear the frown in his voice. I glanced back at him. He was outrageously handsome in that suit, in spite of the air of menace that exuded from him. I couldn’t believe I’d ever thought him arrogant. “You are engaged to my cousin. I crossed a line--”

I got sad then, but even more so… I was disappointed. And then I was pissed. The emotions rolled over me in microseconds. Ivan was the person responsible for my fate—not including my father, the Russian mob, and Sergei specifically—so he ended up bearing the brunt of my frustration.

“—I’ll be here to celebrate Christmas,” I interrupted him. “I’m going to take my exams, and hopefully do well enough to…” Realization suddenly dawned on me. What my father said didn’t matter anymore. “This fucked up wedding has one upside. I’ll be going to a real college next fall.” I seized the thought and grew excited. “I’m going to go to George Mason, in Harrisonburg. I’ll be living there, during the semester, and returning to live during the breaks in this house, which, I’d like to point out, is my home. Whether they like it or not.” I put my hand on my hip and turned towards him.
