“Do you reckon Lizzy’s waiting up for us?” Darcy asked as we climbed the last flight of stairs up to the flat, avoiding the lift in an attempt to justify our rather large deserts at the restaurant.

“Definitely. She’s enjoying this way too much.”

“It is odd,” Darcy mused. “But I had fun tonight. It’s been too long since we’ve done something, just the two of us.”

“Yeah,” I agreed, bumping our shoulders together as we reached the front door. “Well, this is where I leave you, I suppose. Saying goodbye at the door and everything.”

“Oh, of course,” laughed Darcy. “I hope you won’t be too offended if I tell you that a goodnight kiss is out of the question.”

I sniffed dramatically, clutching my chest. “Heartbroken.”

“Well, I should be getting in. I’ve got someone waiting up for me.”

“Of course,” I said, giving a little bow. “I hope you have a good evening, milady.”

“And you, kind sir,” said Darcy, giving me a little curtsey before opening the door and slipping inside the flat.

I watched the door shut behind the flat, waiting a few seconds as Lizzy pretended to grill Darcy about the details before the quiet fell that usually indicated either cuddling or, as Jordan called it, naked cuddling. Determined not to wait any longer in case I yet again walked in on something I really didn’t want to see, I reached inside my pocket for my keys, only to find I’d forgotten them. Typical.

“Darcy? Lizzy?” I called as I hammered on the door. “Let me in!” I heard movement and giggling coming from inside the flat. “But only if you’ve got clothes on!”
