After everyone left, Alex insisted on staying behind to help him put things away and clean up. "Your party was a success," he said to Cole with a smile. "And your food too."

"It was nothing special," Cole said.

"Yes, it was. You hardly have anything left," Alex pointed out.

"If you had a good time, I'm happy."

"Oh, I'm easy," Alex said and made an unexpected turn toward the fridge when Cole thought he was going to go the other way. They ended up too close together, staring into each other's eyes.

"Sorry," Alex breathed, his pretty eyes fluttering, his lips parted like an invitation Cole had to accept.

Cole brought their mouths together with all the passion he felt for Alex and held back so long. He kissed him hard, pouring everything he felt into it, and he held Alex like he wanted to crush him, mold their bodies into one.

He was being too intense and forceful and he knew it. He wanted to claim Alex, make the man his. Pulling back, he blinked while Alex looked dazed and swayed a little. Cole put his arm around him to steady him and Alex smiled that beautiful smile of his. So he hadn't screwed up kissing him like that. Thank God.

But that didn't mean he could get carried away by a feeling that Alex might not share.

Alex was still smiling as he went back to clearing up. He was clumsy too and Cole had to catch one or two things he almost dropped. Cole was shaky himself, most of all because he was dying to tell Alex to be his and never even think of another man ever again.

He didn't dare to say what he was thinking and feeling. Every thought in his head was too rough, too possessive. But he couldn't stand the thought of losing Alex again.
