A week later, Shay couldnât believe the way her life had changed. She never thought sheâd wake up again with a positive outlook on the day. Her appetite had returned and sheâd even put on weightâwhich she couldnât believe she was happy about. Sheâd never been overweight, but she hadnât been skinny either. She liked her curves and wanted them back.
Of course, Ant had no problems with her figure, as he proved multiple times a day and night. She didnât want to think about what would happen after theyâd leave the island. She was okay with leaving it up in the air because she wanted to enjoy every moment she had with him. Too soon, they would leave and go back to their own parts of the world. That was the only answer that made sense.
They fell into a natural routine of spending the mornings on the beach, swimming or sunning. Then after they fixed their lunch, they spent the heat of the day inside, reading or playing a game, or just talking. Dinner was either grilling on the deck or pulling one of the prepared meals from the freezer. Then a walk on the beach and movies on the couch.
The benefits of a private island meant spontaneous moments. And they took advantage any time, any place. She was still cleaning sand out of intimate places.
She was having a perfectly ideal vacation. The only problem was, she wanted him all the time. Not only sexually, although that certainly was a big part of it. She just craved being with him, listening to him talk, enjoying a growing awareness of everything about him. Like the way his taut butt filled out his pants or the way the muscles on his back rippled when he reached for a plate or glass from the cabinet. Sheâd never noticed Ant having a particularly appealing scent, but when they sat beside each other on the couch for movies, she wanted to sniff him.
âLook,â Shayla said, pointing to a storefront. âThey make the best molasses candy. I think we need some.â
That morning when Ant suggested a trip to the mainland, sheâd been cautiously optimistic. So far, she hadnât had a single flinch or twinge at being outside or around people. She felt safe and happy. Her eyes drifted to Ant as he looked over the selection of sweets offered and sighed at the way his hair curled on the back of his neck. It had grown longer and her fingers itched to run through the sun-lightened strands.
When they left the store, Ant had his hands full of sweets. Theyâd not only gotten the molasses candy, but heâd also gotten three types of fudge, an assortment of cookies, and an entire strawberry pie that he said was his favorite. As they continued their walk, Ant dug through the cookies and picked out the biggest oatmeal raisin for himself before offering the box to her.
Chuckling, she picked out a white chocolate, macadamia nut and took a bite. âYouâre nothing but a big kid.
