THE KILLER WAS FEELING restless. It had been a long time since his last hunt. ‘Hunt,’ the word sounded so macabre, well, the killer thought to himself, redeeming his honor the way his forefathers would have to be macabre at best. He thought of the last woman he had killed and felt himself go hard. It amazed him that he had taken that long to realize this was the only way he could feel alive. He had often wondered what was wrong with him. Why he could never derive pleasure from the mundane things that brought happiness to the silly people around him, and now he understood perfectly well. He was not normal. No normal is boring. Normal is mundane. What he has been more than the minds of those around him could comprehend. Their ordinary minds were not broad enough to recognize him as the god that he was. He was going to make them understand. He was going to choose his tributes by himself, and there was nothing any one of them could do about it.

He got his tools together and headed out; astonishingly, he could find no woman of the night. He laughed to himself. They had heard of his conquests and had chosen to hide away like the disgusting little rats they were. Well, no problem. He was going to have to take his planned trip a little earlier than he had planned.

He went back to his house and got as much ‘equipment’ as he would need. He was going on a road trip.

He was a few miles out of town when he saw her. The fates really are behind me.

Beautiful red hair, about 5’2”, perfect body shape. The woman looked hauntingly like his prime target. He found himself wishing fervently for a pair of brown eyes to peer at him from behind the dark aviator shades she was wearing. The killer pulled up beside her and watched her face glow up. She had been there for a long time and was finally glad that this man in a shiny truck was there yet.

“Are you lost, darling?”

“Not at all; I just need a ride to the next town."

She removed the sunshade and, voila! Beautiful chocolate eyes.

“It just happens that I’m heading to the next town; hop in."

She gave him a big smile and got into the truck. She was not much of a talker, and he looked forward to listening to her waning screams as her life force drained out of her body. He looked at her and smiled. She caught the smile and frowned in confusion.

He had to be careful, he thought to himself. It seemed like the girl could sense the vibes coming from him. The use of hotel rooms was no longer an option. It was too open, and he was definitely not interested in getting caught.

The girl had her ears plugged with earphones and was busy pressing her phone. He had to get that away from her. He parked the truck, and the lady looked up in askance.
