The Doctored breathed inside and out to calm his nerves as though he was the one traveling back in time. He answered, âYou feel it. Thatâs why Iâm here to guide you on your first trip. I won't be there, but Iâll help you meditate on the right things. Feel the right emotions. Are you ready?â âIâm as ready as Iâm ever going to be,â I said with excitement in my voice
He told me to stand straight and tall like a model, âthink about the people you wanted around you.â I thought about my dad and my mom being together. I thought about people playing music and concert halls where they met. My breathing began to slow down. He then told me to think about a specific date. I didn't know exactly what day my dad took his life. I thought of the day Logan died on April 20th, 1994. I thought of the music, the outfits, and the television shows. He communicated that when I locked onto my vision of the past to press the âGOâ application. I was trying to be as transparent as possible. I pressed the app without hesitation.
I opened my eyes, and the doctor was moving what seemed to be a mile-per-minute, slowly disappearing in the process. The metal plates on the walls came crashing down around me. I closed my eyes, trying to see my father's face in my mind. His smile in the photographs of him and me. How he wouldâve felt moments before his death. Thinking about what he was doing and who he was listening to, the final voices he heard. Hope for the Fallen came into my mind, which turned into Logan Greene.
I tried to stop thinking about him, but I couldnât. All the times when that I felt lonely, all the times that I felt horny or sad. I thought of him. I tried desperately to get back on track, but the particles around me didn't care; they took me exactly where my heart wanted to go. The exact place my subconscious needed to go. I screamed âNoâ¦No.â Trying to remember my father and mother being together and happy.
The pressure of the travel started to take hold of me. My lungs began to tighten, and my heart beated faster and more rapidly. I grabbed my chest in piercing pain. My knees shook uncontrollably, which made me fall to the ground. My throat tightened. It felt like my mother was choking me again. But this time, I couldnât fight it. My ears popped like popcorn in a cosmic oven. My eyes burst into tears. Wishing I could scream. I opened my eyes, seeing the floor transform under me. The particles of matter launched into action, forming furniture, the sky, and the walls around me. With my mind rattling in my skull, I closed my eyes and hugged my body close.
When there was no longer pressure in my chest and my body started to feel normal. I opened my eyes to a dark room.
