My God, what just happened? That did not go how I saw it going.

As I stare at the door, my attention gets broken by Ashlyn’s frantic voice. She’s kneeling beside Teddy, trying to wake him,

“Teddy, baby. Please, open your eyes.”

Shit! “Is he alright?” I rush over asking.

“What do you care?!” she snaps back at me.

“Hey, I don’t know what Teddy told you either, but this is definitely not all my fault.”

Ashlyn’s glare is murderous, as she screams, “Shut up! Just shut your mouth. I don’t want to hear it now. Just get down here and help me.”

“What do you want me to do?”

She looks around the bakery then tells me, “Get me some wet towels so I can clean him up. I need to see how bad his injuries are.”

I take off to the back and get as many towels I can and wet them like she said. When I get back, she’s on the phone with someone. Kneeling beside her, I hand her the towels. When she hangs up, I ask,

“Were you calling an ambulance?”

Ashlyn glances at me pissed. “No and you know why. I was calling my brother-in-law. He’s coming to help.”

“Brother-in-law?”

“Zander Stern.”

“Oh yeah, that’s right, Theo married Catherine. I guess that does make him family now.”

“No, Theo being Zander’s real father makes them brothers.”

“Oh shit! When did that happen?”

“Didn’t I tell you to shut up?”

“Fine but I imagine we’re going to have to talk eventually.”

She glances my way again but just for a second then goes back to cleaning Teddy’s wounds. Although she’s not quiet for long.

“You told me your name was Tiffany. Was it to get close to me and find out more about Teddy and Shane?”

“I never set out to find you…you talked…”

“Yes, I talked to you, because I liked you. But you knew who I was. You knew I was with Teddy the whole time.”

“I did. But You have to know…”

She interrupts me again and her voice gets louder, “All I know is you’re a liar. What I don’t know is, what else you’re lying about.”

“Not a damn thing.” Pissed, I stand up. “And before you accuse me of anything else, you should ask your boyfriend or fiancé or whatever the hell he is to you, what he’s been lying about for years. Because, yes I left but the way Shane just kicked his ass and accused us of being lovers is way further than any simple lie I ever told.”

She drops the towel and stands. “Simple. You call your lies simple?”

“Let’s get this straight, Ashlyn. I lied to you but only about who I was. There were never any other lies.”

She opens then closes her mouth, debating what to say next. When she finally speaks, she asks, “So then why does Shane think your son is Teddy’s?”

“I have no idea, but I imagine the piece of shit at your feet can tell us when he wakes up.”

“Hey, don’t you call him that! He’s mine and the father of my children.”

“I know and I have so badly been wanting to tell you not to marry him.
