Pryderi tried to force a smile off his face, but he suspected he didn’t always manage, from the looks Sasha kept shooting him.

“That beer was for table four, not table one,” Sasha said, bumping his hip against Pryderi’s and swapping the beer Pryderi had just put down on table one with a coffee. “Sorry,” he told the customer.

Pryderi took the beer from Sasha’s hand and took it to table four, apologizing for the wait. When he got back to the bar, Sasha was already getting a new order ready, and Pryderi hovered there, checking what table it was for a few times to be sure he wasn’t going to get it wrong.

“Boy, I wish I’d been a fly on the wall of the break room,” Sasha said when Pryderi came back from delivering the order—to the right table, this time.

“What?”

Sasha grinned. “You know, when you took care of Nate. I can’t help but wonder what that help was.”

Pryderi was not going to blush. “I gave him his painkillers.”

“In what form were they?” Sasha wiggled his eyebrows before reaching for his hair and pulling it in front of the scars on his face.

“In the form of his pills. We were only in there ten minutes.”

“Ten minutes is more than enough in certain cases, but all right. Let’s say I believe you didn’t get at least partially naked. Something did happen, though. Right?”

Pryderi didn’t have it in him to tell Sasha to stop prodding. Sasha had only recently started coming out of his shell, and only with the people he was comfortable with, like Hunter, Nate, Pryderi, and Justin. Pryderi wasn’t going to squash that, even though he didn’t know if Nate was okay with him talking about their kiss. Besides, Nate hadn’t been the only one involved in that kiss, so if Pryderi wanted to tell one of his closest friends, surely he could.

He looked around to make sure no one needed anything. Nate had gone to his office to rest for a bit, but he’d be back soon. He couldn’t stay away from the bar for long. He liked to have everything under control, and as the previous situation had shown, to be there to protect the people who worked for him.

Pryderi leaned closer. “Okay, so something happened.”

Sasha’s eyes glittered in delight. He looked smug, but Pryderi didn’t mind. “Something? You’re going to have to be more specific than that.”

“Nate kissed me. And before you start making up stuff, I have no idea what it meant, because we didn’t have the chance to talk about it.”

“But you will.”

“Maybe? Probably, yeah. I know I’d like to know what’s going on between us and what the kiss meant, but I’m not going to push him. He has enough on his plate as it is, and this isn’t urgent. I’m not going anywhere.”

Sasha’s expression softened. “You’re right, you’re not. But don’t let him push you away, especially not now that you’ve finally managed to break through. He always has this
