Chapter Eighteen
Taylor
I take the tractor out to the farthest point of the fields so we can work our way back towards the house. This is going to take several hours and it's going to be a lot on the guys. Hauling bales of hay onto a trailer in the blistering sun is not easy on the body.
Grayson kept on looking at me funny the entire time we ate lunch. It was making me uncomfortable. I thought he was going to blurt out what happened last night to my brothers. How mortifying would that be?
As I reach the furthest point of our land that has bales ready to be picked up and stored, I stop the tractor and cut the engine while the guys jump off the back and start to load up. A couple minutes later, they are back on the tractor, and I am moving along the field towards the next set of bales.
After about an hour, I come to another section that has a good number of bales in one area. I park the tractor and kind of zone out for a couple of minutes, thinking about what Momma is gonna cook for dinner tonight.
When I look in the side mirror, I see Grayson loading a big bale of hay. He throws it onto the trailer. His arms are bulging, showing off his thick muscles. He jumps onto the trailer to slide the bale further back. When he stands up straight, he takes the hat off of his head. Lifting his shirt, he grabs the bottom of his shirt and wipes the sweat off of his face giving me a nice view of his abs.
My lady parts actually tingle at the sight of it. He looks like every farm girl's wet dream. If he lived in this town, the women here would be falling over to get to him. A twinge of jealousy hits me at the thought of any of the women here getting their hands on him.
After another couple of hours where I force myself to keep my head down and not peek into the mirror, which I failed miserably at, we are heading back to the house to shower and freshen up for dinner.
The meal is nice and mostly peaceful as everyone seems to be completely beat from the day. Dinner is winding down, and I'm hoping to rest on the back porch with Kaylee when Holt messes with those plans.
"We need to take Grayson down to the creek tonight. We can show him our old stomping grounds." Holt rubs his hands together in anticipation.
I roll my eyes. I don't see why they want to go down there so bad. We aren't teenagers anymore. It's just a dumb old creek at this point. What does Grayson care? But that doesn't matter, because fifteen minutes later we are all walking down the side of the house with flashlights in our hands. Holt grabbed a bottle of whiskey and beer clearly thinking we are about to reenact the good ole days.
