Chapter Fifteen
Zoe
Each time the door opened, I turned to check it, hoping to see Max.
I felt good. Light and airy, and so tipsy. There was this energy in the air. Like anything could happen, and I was ready for it.
Finally, I recognized Troyâs friends coming in.
I nudged Aubree, pointing at the door. âTheyâre here.â
âThe boys are here to ruin our fun,â Aubree exclaimed, throwing her hands in the air like she was exasperated by their presence.
Sheâd had a bit more to drink than I had. She had tipped right over to the sloshed side. But it was her bachelorette party. She was supposed to be having fun.
Troy walked up behind her as she moved to the sound of the music, even though there was no dance floor. Gripping her hips, he pulled her back against his body. Sliding her hair to the side, he kissed her neck, then met her lips as she turned.
It was so achingly sweet, I had to look away into Maxâs knowing gaze. I wanted what Aubree and Troy had. Something pure and sweet with their future laid out in front of them.
It wasnât something Iâd find with Max. With the slight buzz of alcohol, sex with him was on my mind. There was no way he wasnât amazing in bed, and I wanted to experience all of that for myself.
I reached out a hand, gripping his wrist and tugging him toward me. Wearing a black T-shirt and jeans, he was big and masculine, and hopefully, mine for the evening. I ran my hands over his defined chest. âYou look handsome, boyfriend.â
He tilted his head slightly down, his hands gripping my hips in a possessive hold. He slowly pulled me in so my body was flush with his. âYouâre gorgeous.â
His eyes darkened with desire.
Running my fingers through the hair at the base of his neck, I pulled him down so that our lips were almost touching. I wanted to ask if this was real, but I felt it in every inch of his hard body against mine. If he wasnât feeling what I was, then Iâd be crushed. But I wasnât going to dwell on it now when I had him so close.
I erased the distance between us, pressing my lips to his. The bar fell away, the laughing and talking, as he took over the kiss, angling my chin, my lips opening for him. It was deep and wet, and all-consuming.
I felt his erection pressed tight against my belly. I wanted to touch him. To feel his hard length between my legs. His thighs under mine. Was it too early to get out of here, to see if all this chemistry translated to my bed?
Ripping my lips from his, I said, âWant to get out of here?â
My heart was racing, my breathing erratic, and I couldnât believe Iâd just asked my best friend to go back to my place.
He cocked his brow. âA little early, donât you think?â
I glanced around at the group of people we were supposed to be socializing with.
