MONTH 8. PART 1. â The Unopened Hotel
(POV Member)
This one is different, and I know that. Itâs different because Iâm choosing to make it that way. I have no idea how sheâs going to feel about this, but Iâve asked for special accommodations tonight. Itâs nothing crazy; I just donât want us to be disturbed all night, and this should ensure that. The work trip took the full three weeks and, technically, one extra day, but I was able to make it back with enough time to send the email, make the reservation, and sigh in relief because Iâd get to see her again. Iâm done telling myself how crazy this whole thing is; I just am. I like her. I like how we are together, how she is with me, and how good she makes me feel in every single way. Itâs not crazy; itâs two people connecting. And I want tonight to be special.
Itâs important because there was a chance I wasnât going to be able to make it, and the last time we saw one another, we touched and talked as if that would be the case. We kissed long. We talked more about our childhoods and marveled at how different they were. We made each other come until the knock on the door, and I kissed her while we stood there just after she changed into that sexy suit. We whispered our goodbye, and more than anything, I wanted to ask her to meet me somewhere. We could have gone to some twenty-four-hour diner and had a bad cup of coffee. We could have gone back to my place and just slept for hours before waking up and having breakfast. We could have done anything, really, but her friends were there right when I opened the door. I chickened out.
Worse than that, I thought about how they seem to want her, too. I was jealous. Not only because I donât want her touching anyone else or being touched by them, which is unfair, but because they already have each other. I wanted them to just let me have her, but thatâs not how this works. On top of that, theyâre really nice, and I canât be mad at them. I shouldnât be jealous of them, either. She told me how amazing theyâve been before and after she lost her aunt, and I know she needs people like them in her life. Theyâre actually in her life. Iâm on the outside of it all, practically tapping a hole in any floor Iâm standing on until I can see her again.
When itâs time to go this time, I put on a new dress but donât slip a thong on underneath â thereâs no point. I have a strapless bra on more for comfort than anything else, and Iâm wearing a pair of heels that are a little taller than what I normally wear. I feel sexy, Iâm confident, and I just canât wait to see her.
The drive to the new location is a long one â longer than I thought it would be â but I still arrive on time.
