âWant to watch a movie?â Grace asked as she sat on her bed. It was a little past eight, too early to go to sleep, but if they were left to their own devices in this hotel room, one of two things would happen. Either Lia would start asking more questions, or theyâd give in to temptation. And as much as Grace wanted that second option to happen, she wasnât ready for the complications that would come afterward, at least . . . not yet.
âA movie sounds great,â Lia agreed. She reached for the remote control and started scrolling through their options. âOh, look, The Spy Who Dumped Me. Kate McKinnon is in that.â
Grace giggled as she popped the cork on a bottle of sauvignon blanc. She poured two glasses and handed one to Lia. âYou say Kate McKinnonâs in it, and I say Gillian Andersonâs in it.â
Liaâs brow wrinkled adorably. âWhat? No, she isnât.â
âOh yes, she is,â Grace said before taking a sip of her wine. âAnd sheâs extremely hot.â
âI donât remember her in this movie,â Lia said.
âWhich means we definitely need to watch it together. Plus, itâs hilarious, and I adore Kate McKinnon too. So itâs a win-win.â
âAll right.â Lia rented the movie and gestured for Grace to come sit with her.
Grace grabbed the package of oatmeal cookies sheâd been snacking on and her glass of wine and sat next to Lia in bed, keeping enough space between them that she wouldnât be tempted to kiss her again . . . well, sheâd try not to, anyway.
She and Lia sipped wine and laughed through the opening sequence. Once the characters arrived in Europe, Grace felt a tug of longing. America would always feel like home, but damn, she loved her life in London, and she couldnât wait to get back.
They were on their second glasses of wine by the time Gillian Anderson came onscreen, looking absolutely stunning as a badass MI-6 operative. âThere she is,â Grace said dreamily.
âThatâs not . . .â Liaâs tone was incredulous. âOh my God, that is her. But sheâs blonde . . . and British.â
âSheâs not actually Agent Scully. You know that, right?â Grace teased.
âI would never have recognized her in this if you hadnât pointed her out,â Lia said.
âWell, now you know.â
âMm,â Lia agreed, turning her gaze back to the TV.
âI like her accent,â Grace whispered, watching Lia instead of the movie.
âIs that so?â Liaâs gaze settled on Grace, and the bed seemed to shrink around them.
âIâm a total sucker for a British accent.â Warmth spread through Graceâs veins just from looking at her, and oh, this was such a problem. Or not. Because really, what was the harm in one more kiss?
Apparently, her hormones made the decision for her, because the next thing she knew, she was on top of Lia, and they were kissing, and this was definitely the best decision sheâd made tonight.
Lia rose up to meet her, gripping Graceâs hips as she hauled her closer. This wasnât a gentle kiss.
