Chapter Nineteen

Levi

I SCOOCH DOWN A LITTLE further on the couch, bringing Kitty with me. She’s been snoring softly for the past fifteen minutes. I’d sit here and hold her forever if I could. My eyes slide closed, exhaustion from being awake before sunrise quickly taking over me.

An hour later I wake up to loud music. The movie credits are rolling, the sound track blaring. I quickly switch off the TV before it wakes up Kitty.

She lets out a small moan, shifting her body, melting even further into me.

I glance at my watch, it’s already past ten. I need to be up early for another shift at the coffee shop tomorrow.

“Sweetheart, I’m gonna carry you to your room. Then I gotta go.”

I tuck a strand of hair behind her ear, trailing my fingers down her jawline.

“Mmm, I can walk,” she murmurs, but doesn’t open her eyes.

“Nah, your knight in shining armor is here.”

“He’s a hottie too.” The corner of her lips tip up with a smile.

“The damsel in distress is quite stunning too. Bet they’d look good together.”

“Make beautiful babies.”

A split second after the words are out of her mouth, her eyes fly open, staring up at me in horror. Kitty slaps a hand over her mouth.

“I'm so sorry. I totally didn’t mean to say that.”

I throw my head back, my deep laughter filling the silence between us.

“You’re right. We’d have gorgeous babies.” I wink.

Rising from the couch and stretching to my full height. I reach my arms above my head, twisting my torso one way and then another. Kitty’s attention is focused where my shirt has risen up, exposing a few inches of my stomach. I smirk, holding out a hand for Kitty. She takes it easily, trying to duck her head to hide her embarrassment.

“Hey,” I whisper.

Gripping Kitty’s chin with my thumb and forefinger, I raise it until she’s forced to meet my gaze.

“Stop being embarrassed. You’re not gonna scare me away. I’m not like that.”

Her eyes flicker between my lips and eyes. Before I can react, she’s on her tippy toes, pressing her soft lips against mine.

It takes me a moment to react, but when I do, I snake my arm around her waist, tugging her soft curves against my hard body. She moans into my mouth, deepening our kiss. Her tongue wars with mine, her fingers thread through my hair, pulling me even closer.

I knead her soft curves, wanting to feel every inch of her. Kitty moves one hand to my chest, running them over the hard muscles years of sports and training have given me. Soft fingers trail down my abs, making me let out an embarrassing groan.

“Damn, baby,” I murmur into her neck. I place one kiss after another on her soft skin. “I really need to go, but you’re making it real hard to do that.”

“When can I see you again?”

“Whenever the hell you want. I have to work in the morning, but I’m free the rest of the day.”

“We can do something after that.
