Rhett â 2
I couldnât help it. I absolutely loved my husband, and he had done so much for me since Iâd been kidnapped almost two years ago. He didnât have to; I swear, he didnât even want to be with me back then. But thank fuck he gave in and stopped fighting himself after I moved to Crooked Bend.
I cherished the fact that he wanted to take care of me, even though he would be the first to admit I was more than capable of taking care of myself. Hell, I always wanted to do the same with him. Itâs what I had grown up witnessing. Dad and Papa were always doing little things for each other, and it was something that carried through into my own marriage.
So when Logan stopped at an Audi dealer, I had a pretty good idea what we were doing there. And even though Iâd never admit it to him, I had to agree, we needed something bigger. I knew him taking the choice out of my hands wasnât done with anything other than love. Some people would consider it underhanded, but not me. I simply couldnât make up my mind. I know because Iâd been trying to decide for weeks which vehicle would be my next one. I was out of time, and in just a few short weeks we were certainly going to need something other than my Jeep.
Because I like to spice things upâand because Logan was always gameâI directed him to the back seat of the SUV before I climbed in.
âWhat are we doing here?â
âWell, I figured it would be good to see how much room is back here. I mean, at least before we fill it with car seats. I donât think there will be room for anything or anyone else once we install those. Maybe we should have gotten a minivan?â
âMunchkin, I didnât get this with the intent of me being the one riding in the back, so that wonât be an issue. And could you honestly say youâd have been happy with a minivan?â
I watched as my husbandâmy very tall husbandâtried his best to get situated in the back seat with me. I laughed because it simply wasnât working. Which was too bad, because Iâd hadâ¦ideas.
I thought about it for a moment, and I knew that the seats could lie completely flat, so I held up a finger and gestured to Logan to wait a moment as I got out and went around to the back of the SUV. After I laid down the middle and the driver-side seats, Logan moved over, allowing me to flatten the third and final seat. I crawled in through the back cargo area and pushed the button for the liftgate.
âOkay, munchkin, now that you have me here, tell me why.â
âDo you really need to ask?â I said as I pushed on Loganâs shoulders, causing him to lie down.
âRhett?â Logan questioned as his eyes widened in surprise. I simply straddled my husbandâs hips and leaned in for a kiss.
