I WAS STILL PROCESSING THAT I WAS PREGNANT. It did explain a lot. Especially the new constant pain in my back. I thought it was from farming or hunching over my computer during classes. No, it was because I was pregnant. I had morning sickness and refused to see it for what it was. The slick that squirted out of me when I first slept with Bauer really should’ve been an aha moment, but I wouldn’t even let myself ponder the notion that I wasn’t a normal alpha.

“Do you eat all of these?” Bauer asked, handing me a basket of eggs. He had just come out of the hen house. He collected them for me.

“No. I hold onto a few and then sell the rest at the farmer’s market.”

He did most of my work for me and even sat by as I attended my online class. Now there was no getting rid of him. He was officially my alpha. I never wanted him to entirely go away in the first place, but I was still coping with being an alpha attracted to an alpha, and now that I was pregnant, there was no denying that we were, in fact, fated—that he marked me for a reason. We were a pair.
