It was one of the feel-good stories for Vancouver Canucks fans in 2010–11. Alex Burrows and his “bow and arrow” celebration honoured Luc Bourdon, his best friend and former Canucks teammate who was killed in a motorcycle accident in May 2008. The celebration was Bourdon’s signature move. Burrows has taken every opportunity to “get the arrow up there” to his late colleague ever since he went from agitator on Vancouver’s third line to unlikely scorer with the Sedin twins on the top unit in February 2009.
