Chapter 7

“You look happy,” Kelly teased. “Can I assume that you're this way because it's Saturday?”

As much as Diane wanted to say it wasn't true, there was no use lying. It had only been a little more than two months and Saturdays had quickly become her best days of the week. This wasn't because it was a free day from school or work. It was quite the opposite in fact. She loved Saturdays because she could go into work and more importantly, spend time with Jason.

In that time, they had grown close to each other and their work was coming along steadily. They would just sit and talk as Jason worked on his craft. Sometimes, they continued to talk even after that. With each Saturday, she had grown to know more about Jason and he about her. They shared their past with each other and realized just how much they had in common. He had shared with her lots of medical stories and his personal experiences and he had been nothing short of inspiring to her. Sometimes, they didn't even have to talk. Diane could be sitting still while reading and just asking a couple of questions here and there. After all, Jason was a doctor and since she was studying to become one, it made sense for her to ask for his help whenever she needed. She loved listening to him speak about life and she often found herself mesmerized by his thoughts and ideas.

“How would you know I'm happy? Was I smiling or anything?”

“You just sort of have this weird, small smile when you're pleased with something. It's how you look when you read. It’s how you look when you study and got your stuff right. You're not reading nor studying right now, so you must really like the guy, huh?”

“I don't know,” Diane admitted. “You know I’ve never really been in anything serious before. This though, it feels different. I'll admit I love spending time with him. A lot in fact.”

“Do you think it's the same for him though?”

“I…” No further answer came out. Diane quickly realized that she didn't know if Jason liked spending time with her as well, or if he was just being nice. He looked like a nice guy, so it was pretty plausible that he was only being friendly. He was a few years older than her and probably thought of himself more like her mentor as they talked about life. Diane also began to wonder why this thought was making her sad.

“At least you're making good money, right?” Kelly asked.

“For sure,” Diane replied.

The pair were currently seated in Kelly's room, but it made Diane marvel at the fact that her own room was no longer a far cry from her friend's place. She had been able to clean it up properly and sort things out with the money she had made over the months. It was a pretty nice place to live in now and she felt really good about herself.

“What do you think I should do?” Diane asked Kelly.
