“This is one good looking animal,” Logan said, stroking Majesty’s neck. “And unbelievably calm.”

“Yep. She’s about perfect if you ask me.” Hank ran a hand down Majesty’s flank, proud of the mare. “She’s gentle enough for children but has enough get-up-and-go for an adult. I’ll be lucky to find another one as good as her.”

“I love to ride her,” Ashley said. “So do my nieces.”

“Mind if I try her out?” Logan asked.

“Be my guest.” Hank stepped back as Logan slipped a bridle on Majesty, then grabbed her mane and swung up on her to ride bareback.

Hank arched his brows. “You’ve ridden a lot, right?”

“When I was younger,” Logan said with a grin. He nudged the mare into a trot and took her around the arena a few times before cantering her. A while later, he re-joined Ashley and Hank. “What I would give to own a horse like this mare.”

“Wanna ride Satan next?” Hank shot him a devilish grin, wondering if Logan would take him up on it, but doubted it.

Logan sliced a look at Satan, who stood tied to the fence, occasionally tossing his head or pawing at the ground. “I might need to think about that.”

“Smart man,” Ashley responded, elbowing Hank in the ribs. “You’re not supposed to put our guests in danger.”

“I have a feeling Logan knows what he’s doing when it comes to horses.”

“Some,” Logan admitted. “But I could always learn more. Several of my patients could benefit from equine therapy, and you’re only thirty minutes from my office. When you’re ready to roll with this, I’d like to observe some. I would love to get certified to do this on Friday afternoon and Saturday when I’m not booked.”

“Tell you what. I’ll send you some information about it. There’s a national program called EAGALA out in Utah. I’ll give you their number so you can look into getting certified. Let’s you and I plan on working with Majesty sometime in the near future, so I can show you horse behaviors to watch for and what they mean.”

Logan’s smile covered his face. “You’re on.”

Hank patted Majesty. Her coat, which was warm with the fall sun, had begun turning a lighter gold and dappled for winter. “I’ll give you a shout down the road.”

Hank had a feeling this man might be just what he was looking for to help get his therapy program up and running. He hoped Logan didn’t pursue Ashley, though, because it was time, past time actually, he and Ashley discovered more about the heat that had always sizzled between them.

“Come meet Satan. His disposition would never make him therapy material, but it’s an adrenaline rush to ride this big fella.”

“No doubt,” Logan said, eyeing the seventeen-hands-high animal. “You ever ridden him?” he asked Ashley.

“No. I can’t decide if I want to.”

Hank jerked his gaze toward her. “I wouldn’t dream of letting you on this stallion.”

“Is that so?” Ashley said with an eye roll. “What if I change my mind and want to ride him?”

Hank shot her a look he hoped would sweep that notion right out the door.
