Logan was right. The wind blowing through her hair made her feel better. Or at least it pushed her thoughts to the back of her mind for a while. She held her hand out the window and let her hand surf the winds as Logan drove the country roads with expertise. Logan’s radio blared country music as she drove.

Logan glanced over at Faith, and the smile on her face warmed her heart. The distress she was experiencing earlier now appeared to be the last thing on her mind. She was glad Faith was distracted when they passed the Morgan home.

As they neared the city, she turned down the radio and broke the silence between them. “What do you feel like eating?”

“Sushi,” Faith answered and laughed at the way Logan’s face wrinkled in disgust.

“I don’t know why anyone would eat fish bait,” Logan teased.

“They have several options that are fully cooked. Where’s your sense of adventure?”

“Sitting right next to me.”

“Try it. You might like it. You can order a Hibachi dinner if you don’t like the sushi I order for you.”

Logan was trapped. There was no way she could turn down Faith’s suggestions. She sighed. “Where am I going?”

“Take a right at the second intersection,” Faith answered and slid close to Logan. “It’s been ages since I’ve had sushi.”

Logan smiled at her as she approached the intersection and turned on her blinker. “We are about to remedy that.”

Faith gave her directions to the restaurant and convinced Logan to try a surf-and-turf sushi roll. She watched Logan’s eyebrows lift when she took her first bite.

“That’s not half bad.”

“The green paste-like stuff is wasabi and is extremely spicy, so go easy with it. It will definitely open up your sinuses.”

“Other parts, too, I’m sure.” Logan chuckled. “You can have all of that other stuff.”

“That’s ginger, and I like it, so you eat all the wasabi you want.”

“Deal.” Logan scooped up a tiny bit of wasabi and placed it on the sushi before lifting it to her mouth. “It’s going to take more than one to fill me up.”

“Do you want another roll or something from the grill?”

“How about another one of these and some fried rice?” Logan asked.

“That’s easy enough.” Faith caught the attention of the server and ordered the food. “So, another sushi fan?”

Logan shrugged. “I guess I can be convinced. I’m still not ready for anything raw, or that I’d put on the end of a fish hook.”

“That’s fair enough. I promise I won’t order anything raw for you.”

The second roll would have been enough to fill Logan up, but she took several bites of the fried rice and had the rest boxed to take home. “That was delicious.” She paid the bill and walked outside. “Is there anything you need while we’re in town?”

“I believe I’m good. Thank you for dinner. It was as good as I remember it.”

“My pleasure, ma’am,” Logan said and opened the door for Faith. “Home?”

Faith nodded and slid across the seat toward Logan. Logan draped an arm around Faith’s shoulders and held her close.
