As I watched Adam answer the door, I tossed my head back and finished off my drink. Fuck. What if I played my hand too early? I’d only succeed in pushing him away. That was the opposite of what I wanted to accomplish.

But the more I thought about turning our arrangement into something real, the more ready I was to pull out all the stops. I only had less than a week to convince Adam to stay forever.

For the first time in a long time, I was focused on something more important than business. I wanted nothing more than to throw my guests out on their asses so I could have Adam all to myself. Landing their account didn’t matter to me nearly as much as beginning the New Year with a commitment from Adam.

As it did with business, my gut told me Adam was a man worth investing my time and energy into. He was worthy of sharing my heart and my future. My instincts were never wrong. They certainly hadn’t failed me yet.

I just needed to convince him I was a solid investment as well. That if he gave me his heart, I would multiply his love tenfold. That I was just as good a partner as I was a business partner.
