Riley was doing his best not to let his mind drift and think about how good it could be with Wynter, but it was difficult when she smiled at him across the dinner table. It made him think of her soft moans when he’d been buried deep inside her.

Wynter was doing a good job of distracting him with other topics. He learned she was a basketball fan like him and had loved the San Antonio Spurs in their heyday. She didn’t like food that was too mushy in texture. He couldn’t believe it when she said she didn’t like soft-serve ice cream and preferred hand-scooped ice cream because it was hard. The suggestive comment made her blush and made Riley want to lean over and give her the openmouthed kiss he was longing to, but instead, they continued talking well into the evening.

Riley discovered Wynter wasn’t a fan of classical music and instead liked old-school rhythm and blues groups. They had a heated discussion on Boyz II Men versus Jodeci. He was a Jodeci and Silk fan himself and doggedly defended that “Forever My Lady” and “Feenin” were some of the best songs of the ’90s, while Wynter preferred sweet love songs such as “End of the Road” and “I’ll Make Love to You.”

“You say I’m a romantic,” Riley said, “but those are baby-making songs.”

Wynter laughed, and the sound was rich, firing his body on all cylinders. Flames licked over his skin, and Riley had to shift in his seat. To change the subject, he asked Wynter if she wanted to accompany him on the snowmobiling excursion. Having Wynter and Derek together might lighten the mood so the billionaire didn’t think him too pushy.

“I would love to come,” Wynter said.

“Great!” Riley responded.

When the waiter came and asked if they wanted dessert, they simultaneously responded with an emphatic “No.”

“I really enjoyed dinner and the conversation,” Wynter said after Riley took care of the bill and they rose from their seats.

“So did I.” But he also wanted to enjoy her.

Anticipation zinged in his veins when he placed his hand on the small of her back and led her out of the restaurant.

They made it to the bank of elevators, and Riley sensed Wynter’s uncertainty. He pressed the up indicator, and they waited in silence. Riley would never push her into doing something she wasn’t ready for. If tonight wasn’t right, he’d wait. He was going to be here a week, or however long it took to win Derek’s business.

When the elevator pinged and the doors opened, they entered the cab. Wynter pressed the fifth-floor button. It took all Riley’s willpower not to take Wynter in his arms, but he stayed on his side of the cab. Several moments later, they arrived on Wynter’s floor. She didn’t say anything as Riley walked beside her until they arrived at her door.

Suddenly, she turned to face him. “I...”

Riley looked down at Wynter with her sexy, wavy hair and bee-stung lips. A hungry possessiveness came over him, but it would have to wait for another time.
