I THINK I'M PARANOID

Exhaustion had set in for Trixi. Needless to say, it completely wiped her out, yet she still wasn’t in the least bit drowsy. In fact, Trixi was so stimulated by the high that she couldn’t go to sleep. Trixi wandered, about taking in Justine’s stunning artwork. Trixi studied the paper with calligraphy fountain pen writing displayed in a frame. It read:

With mutual love and respect, this parchment is to be signed in ink and in blood to bind two souls, one as master and one as slave, until their last breaths.

Justine Duval will accept the role of wife, lover, and dog. To completely relinquish herself body and soul to Agatha Helvete. To have no will beside that of her master. To accept all forms of cruelty, be that of mutilation, she will accept without complaint. Be that who is trampled upon, must kiss the foot that crushes the soul. To have nothing for the master is everything. And if the chains became too heavy to bear, shall be tossed below the sea, for slave may never have back freedom.

Agatha Helvete will accept the role of wife, lover, and owner. To dominate without restraint the body and soul of Justine Duval. To relish in the cruelty be that of mutilation, given without remorse. To crush the soul for purpose of being cherished. To have the conviction never to free her slave.

And only in death will this parchment burn.

And there it was, prominently visible to everybody who entered their domain to see. Without a shadow of a doubt, Justine was Aggie’s, and the only thing that can ever come between them was death. A place where no one else could fit. Trixi sneaked a second look inside the bedroom. Justine had her arms wrapped so gently around Aggie’s that Trixi couldn’t bring herself to break up their peaceful embrace.

Trixi cautiously entered, gathered her belongings, and immediately dialed Paolo’s number to ask him to bring the vehicle while she got ready. She waited for Paolo on the front steps. Trixi hurried to the vehicle as soon as he drew up, carrying her bag. He hardly had time to get the door unlocked before she hopped in.

After taking the wheel, he faced her. “You had good time, Ma’am?”

“Delightful. Drive.”

Having furrowed his brow, he questioned, “Where to, Ma’am?”

Without intending to continue the conversation, Trixi growled at him. “Canada. Mexico. I really don’t care. Just drive.”

For the most part, Paolo followed her directions without inquiry. Despite not making it to either Canada or Mexico, Trixi answered Aggie’s call, which arrived about two hours of driving along the coast. She saw no reason to refuse her conversation.

“Where did you run off to, my darling?”

“Home. Away. I came for dinner, stayed for dessert.”

“You didn’t need to leave.”

“Aggie, as much as I want this, at the end of the day, you two are still married. And to death, for that matter. There may be a place in your bed but—”

Aggie interrupted her. “Trixi, don’t say that.
