Sticky Buns
Makes 6 to 8 servings
Try this gooey cinnamon French toast to satisfy your craving for cinnamon rolls—an easy crowd pleaser.
1/2 cup butter
1 cup brown sugar
3 tablespoons corn syrup
1/2 cup roughly chopped pecans
8 (1-inch-thick) slices day-old French bread
6 large eggs
1-1/2 cups milk
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon salt
Spray a 9 x 13-inch baking pan with nonstick cooking spray.
In a saucepan over medium-high heat, melt butter and sugar until sugar is dissolved, stirring constantly; add syrup and cook until thickened, 2 to 3 minutes. Pour mixture into pan and sprinkle nuts over top. Place bread slices over nuts, forming a single layer.
In a bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, vanilla, cinnamon, and salt; pour over bread slices, saturating evenly. Cover and refrigerate 2 hours or overnight. Remove from refrigerator and bring to room temperature, about 30 minutes.
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
Bake, uncovered, for 45 to 50 minutes, or until lightly browned. Let stand 10 minutes before inverting onto a serving plate.
