CHAPTER 4
The next morning, I wake up to the sound of raindrops against my window. Itâs Sunday, and I feel like my whole world has been turned upside down.
Last night when I got home, I tried to get the fantasy out of my head. But all I could think about was taking things further. I want more than a toy and a sweaty jockstrap. I think I want to experience the real thing.
I noticed one of my frat brothers getting out of the shower. His body was wet and gleaming, just like a guy in that painting. The sight of him caused a stirring inside me. Something new is awake.
Imagine a picture taken on an overcast day. Itâs not a very interesting picture, the colors are muddy and dull. But you start playing around with filters on that picture. You amp up the contrast, send the saturation through the roof. Now everything is vivid and bright. You see details in that picture differently now. Itâs the same scene, but everything has changed. Thatâs a metaphor for my life.
I think about how closed off Iâve been. I was never too interested in much of anything or anyone other than video games. And I think about a world of possibilities where I can feel as good as I felt last night.
Too excited to bother with breakfast, I pull on some clothes and head back to Edwardâs house. I tell myself Iâm just doing my job. I need to feed the cat, clean the litter box, water the plants. But as my heart thuds in my chest with each step closer I get to his front porch, I know what I really want.
That big, hard toy. That feeling inside me as I ride the wave. Itâs perverse and feels so wrong, but Iâm greedy and desperate to feel it again.
Mouse, the cat, is hiding from me. No surprise there. I fill his food bowl, give him fresh drinking water, and clean his litter box. The plants look happy. I mist the fern and add a little water to the potted plants, just as Edward instructed me.
All done.
I step into Edwardâs bedroom, cautiously approaching his bedside table as if a bomb is waiting to go off. I know I shouldnât be doing this, but I canât help myself.
My hands tremble, my fingers twitchy and uncoordinated as I slide open the drawer. Though itâs raining out, a ray of daylight cuts through the curtains. Seeing the object of my desire in brighter light makes the moment feel all the more real and dangerous.
I look behind me. No oneâs around. Obviously. Between shaky breaths, I grab hold of the sleek shaft, feel its strength in the palm of my hand. Itâs smooth like satin, but hefty, too.
Thereâs no time to waste. No turning back now. I fling off my shorts. I didnât even bother putting on underwear before I left my house. And in a flash, Iâm on top of Edwardâs bed, my knees bent as I straddle the beast.
