Evening June 17, 2267 & ED Year 3 Days 278-279.

When Alex stepped out of his VR pod, he smiled to see that all five of the others were also empty, though he frowned to find himself alone. However, he knew that today was when everyone from California was arriving as he had booked the Brewyses to fly some of those who would be staying the summer, or just the week, out. Even so, most of those that Sam, Nicole, Amanda, Fred and Dan had invited out for the week had to find their own way. In total they had ended up with a list that was around 40 people long as they had invited anyone they even halfway hung out with in high school and liked. This had also come with Alex booking 40 rooms at a hotel for them all to stay at for the week, though after a quick cleaning those same rooms would be used for the 40 interns that would be coming to Colorado in person. Though there was still a week before the start of that and Alex was focused on what he would find when he went downstairs as he was sure that his dad, Anna, Lauren, Jessica, Mr. Carter and the Juns had all arrived today.

As Alex walked into the living room, he almost wanted to laugh at what he found himself witnessing. Mrs. Jun was running through what seemed like a checklist for expecting mothers. It seemed that the doctor and mother in her had come out in full force upon seeing her nine-month pregnant daughter and judging from the looks everyone had on, it had been going on for a while. Upon noticing Alex, Nicole about jumped for joy as she called to him.

“Alex, you’re awake. What took you so long? We were all done a few hours ago.”

“I had a bit extra to do for mine, though I was actually done with the official part about eight hours ago. So, tell me, who got first as I got second?”

“Oh, wow. Um, I don’t know who finished when. I logged right out and have been visiting with everyone ever since.”

“Takashi,” interjected Fred. “He beat Amser by around 30 minutes and she was swearing when she was third, though when there was no word on you she seemed to perk up. Although now she will likely go right back to being pissed, even if we don’t need to worry about figuring out who the mystery player is any longer.”

“Yah, we all thought you were losing your edge when the first 100 had finished and you weren’t among them,” commented Dan, who was sitting next to Anna. “So does this mean the three of us are good to go after tomorrow night?”

“Yes and how many have finished now?” asked Alex.

“950,” answered Amanda. “The countdown for the first worldwide arena registration is almost upon us and from the looks of things, all of the major powers are scrambling.”
