As you sketch some possible head designs, decide on your character’s personality. Is he cute, cool, a goofball or something else? Subtle adjustments to his facial features (such as the size of the eyes, percentage of the face the muzzle occupies, detail of the scales, amount of crest spines, etc.) can largely affect his overall look. Then do some thumbnail sketches for his pose, proportions and clothing.
