Chapter fifteen

The Impossible Acts

Adam

Celine Williams. LA’s most renowned actress. Known popularly for her beautiful breasts and ass, considering she also appeared in porn sets.

When she had reached out to me that she needed surgery, I had honestly thought that she wanted to do some ass lifting or maybe some work on her boobs.

But a caesarian section?

“Celine, this is quite the job you have for me,” I said as we both looked at the scans.

She chuckled softly, “Imagine being a mother at my age.”

“You’d make a good mother, Celine,” I said as I squeezed her hand.

“I honestly thought that you and I would be parents together,” she said as she squeezed mine back.

That’s right. We were lovers sometime in the past. But…she had found fame.

And when she had stretched her hand towards me to join her…I couldn’t take hers then.

She wasn’t for me.

“Too bad,” I sighed, “My congratulations to Thomas.”

“We aren’t together anymore though,” she said, “He moved on.”

“I didn’t know,” I admitted. I didn’t really pay attention to celebrity news.

“It’s fine,” she said as she let go of my hand and touched her stomach again, “I can handle this alone. Besides, I have a new love interest. He wants the both of us.”

“All’s well that ends well,” I smiled.

She smiled in return, “How soon till we can begin?”

“We need you to be in labor,” I replied, “There are other doctors who can handle this, you know?”

“Yeah, but I just wanted to sow this seed,” she replied.

“Seed?”

“Yeah, for when you deliver your kid,” she said.

“What makes you think that I’d settle down?” I asked as I stared at her.

“I think you’re already off the fence,” she stated.

“Pardon?”

“I’m saying you’ve changed,” she explained, “Someone’s gotten rid of your grumpy attitude. You’re smiling more than normal at the idea of someone giving birth, and you don’t even seem to have that iota of interest in me that you usually have when interacting with me. In other words…you’re in love.”

I was quiet. We stared at each other for some seconds. The amused expression on her face unnerved me a little and I found myself smiling as well.

“I’m that readable now?” I chuckled as I looked away.

“You should give me some credit,” she pouted, “I did study psychology, you know?”

“You did?”

“Jerk, we went to the same medical school,” she frowned.

“Wait, how?” I raised a brow.

“Sorry, couldn’t help it. I mean, I studied theatre arts, after all,” she giggled, “So tell me about this girl.”

“You’re supposed to be resting,” I reminded her.

“Come on, indulge the lady about to enter labor,” she pleaded, “Let me hear some Adam Hunt romance. We’ll call it…‘Paging Dr. Hunt!’”

“You’re delusional,” I rolled my eyes and focused on her scans.

I started to think about a lot of things…like my life before Crystal.

“She turned my world upside down,” I said, “She humiliated me, yet wanted to take me on like I was some sort of challenge. She reminded me why I took this job in the first place. My heart used to feel so empty, and my house seemed inhabitable.
