They puzzled and strategized far into the evening, but in the end, they felt that they had a good plan that was as safe for everyone as they could make it. As tempting as it was to let Suul simply wreak havoc with lightning and fire, it was too dangerous. They needed to figure in a delay before any explosions, so they would have enough time to transport away.

With brains exhausted and much to do the next day, they parted ways for another night. Lacey was grateful that they only lived next door, so she could collapse as soon as possible.

“Nightcap?” William asked as they walked in the door. “We can have some herbal tea, Lacey, but I think I will add a little boost to mine. Suul?” She nodded.

Lacey feebly waved the idea away. “Nah, you go on with your adult beverages. I’m going up. Goodnight!” She only climbed a stair or two before she turned and looked down at Suul with a half-smile. “The Voice was right again, you know.”

“What do you mean?” asked Suul.

“When this whole ordeal started, the Voice came to me in a dream and told me what was happening. In her own special, obscure way, of course. “I asked her about what would happen, and she said that in the dark dimension, ‘the enemy will hold the key.’ That was Bel. Even though so many people still looked down on her, she saved them all, and she will be remembered forever with honor. The Voice also said that in my dimension, ‘a friend will lead the way.’ That’s you, you’ve helped so much already, and you’re vital to all the plans we made for tomorrow. Without you and Bel, two worlds would have likely ended. Thank you so much.”

Suul blushed. “Well, we haven’t won yet in this dimension.”

Lacey smiled fully. “But we will, because of you. The Voice said so.”
